Farmers Peanut Market, Inc. finished 2023 with an End of the Year Prime Rib dinner celebration featuring nationally famed comedian, Jerry Carroll.  Thank you to our sponsors for this event, Meherrin Fertilizer, Inc. and Helena Chemical.  2023 brought some changes, with the hiring of new staff, Cody Fajna and Hunter Slaughter, as well as seeing some staff move on to new horizons.  During the year, Farmers Peanut Market, Inc. added a new 80' X 12' truck scale and did some more painting, keeping the facility clean and modern.  This new scale gives the capability to weigh any size tractor trailer as well as having space for large farm equipment, like Rogators.  Both the Peanut and Cotton crops were decent this year and all of our storage is at or near capacity.  2024 will bring new challenges as well as new opportunities.  Expectations are high as Farmers Peanut Market, Inc. continues to grow and expand.  Thank you to everyone that helped make 2023 a good year and we promise to continue to provide great service and prices so 2024 can be just as good and even better.  We are here to serve you so call us with any of your agricultural needs.

Farmers Peanut Market, Inc. is excited to announce that we are installing a brand new 80' X 12' Mettler Toledo truck scale.  This scale will be a state-of-the-art low-profile scale, only 11" off the ground.  This is an exciting time to be installing this scale as fertilizer season is right around the corner and this will enable us to be able to weigh large tenders as well as large application equipment such as Rogators and Vectors, etc.  Down the road, the plan is to install a truck dumper capable off dumping large tractor trailer size vans loaded with peanuts.  Although that may be a few years away, it will complete our newest expansion plans as we continue to move into the 21st Century with cutting edge technology.  In other news, if visitors come by the facility, they will notice new paint on our oldest grain elevator and raised storage house as well as our sampler, which was raised three feet last year to accommodate these new van trailers.  Cotton is flowing from our cotton storage warehouse and business is great.  Come by and see all the new things happening at the Farmers Peanut Market, Inc. in Seaboard, NC.

As the harvest season begins to wind down, this is a great time for another production meeting.  Area farmers are invited once again to join us on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 6:00 pm.  The meeting will be held next door to Farmers Peanut Market at the Seaboard Lions Club building.  Topics to be discussed will be first and foremost, the future of fertilizer.  This meeting is sponsored by Meherrin Fertilizer, Inc. so they will have the mic first.  Other topics will include scouting opportunities and we will have a special guest from Severn Peanut Company to show us how to read a crop grade sheet report.  We will also have some pesticide training on winter weed control and license credit will be received for N, O, D, and X.  Dinner will be served so don't miss this meeting.

Area farm producers are invited to a Production Meeting to be held at the Seaboard Lion's Club building on Monday, August 15, 2022, at 6:00 pm.  The purpose of this meeting is to learn about defoliation recommendations, explore some new scouting opportunities, and to catch up on the latest insect control techniques.  Those in attendance will have the opportunity to earn pesticide licensing credit as well.  Dinner will be served and is being catered by Filling Station Restaurant from Robersonville, NC.  This meeting is being sponsored by Farmers Peanut Market and Helena.

Farmers Peanut Market, Inc. has been working hard getting ready for the peanut season.  General Manager Joe Long said, "Even though peanuts are just being planted, it takes a while to get our facility ready to receive peanuts.  Starting early ensures a ready facility that hopefully will provide fast and friendly service to our customers."  As farm equipment continues to get larger, the Peanut Market has to be ready for new equipment and farming methods.  Starting slowly and working on one large item at a time keeps the cost under control while still enabling quality service.  This year, the Peanut sampler has been raised by three feet to prepare for the van type trailers that many producers are heading towards.  Farmers Peanut Market can now sample both the small traditional peanut drying trailer as well as the large van type drying trailers.  This gives producers the choice of how to bring their peanuts to market and helps to provide better service.  While working on the sampler, a new flagpole was also erected.  Farmers Peanut Market, Inc. salutes those that serve our country and certainly wants the community to know how much they are appreciated.
